AeroShell Aviation Lubricants Guide
How the AeroShell range is organised — oils, turbine oils, greases and fluids — and what to confirm before you order.

AeroShell is one of the most widely specified aviation lubricant ranges in the world, and its naming convention tells you most of what you need to know before you order.
How the range is organised
- AeroShell Oil — piston engine oils, including single grade SAE products and multigrades
- AeroShell Turbine Oil — synthetic turbine engine oils in different viscosity classes
- AeroShell Grease — greases for wheel bearings, airframe, high temperature and general use
- AeroShell Fluid — hydraulic, preservative and specialty fluids
- AeroShell Compound and other ancillaries for specific tasks
Once you know which family you need, the number after the family name identifies the product, and the specification on the Technical Data Sheet tells you whether it matches your maintenance data.
Piston engine oils
Piston oils in the range cover mineral and ashless dispersant products in the SAE grades commonly called out by engine manufacturers, plus multigrades for operators flying across wide temperature ranges. Follow the engine manufacturer's service instructions for break-in versus normal operation, and keep to one product family unless the manufacturer permits a change.
Turbine oils
Turbine oils are selected by viscosity class and by the engine manufacturer's approved product list. Never substitute on price alone; check the engine documentation, because approvals are engine-specific and a product approved for one type may not be approved for another.
Greases and fluids
Greases are chosen by application and temperature range, and are supplied in cartridges, tins and tubs. Fluids cover hydraulic, preservative and specialty duties. Both are ordered against the published specification, and both are shelf-life controlled.
Packaging and pack sizes
Lubricants are supplied only in the manufacturer's pack range — quarts and cartons for piston oils, cans, pails and drums for turbine oils and fluids, cartridges and tins for greases. Pack size affects unit cost, freight and dangerous goods handling, so it is worth quoting two pack sizes when your consumption allows either.
Documentation and transport
A Certificate of Analysis, MSDS/SDS and Technical Data Sheet are available on request and should be asked for at quotation stage so they match the batch supplied. Some products are classified as dangerous goods, which affects routing and transit time; we confirm the classification and the packing method before booking.
Ordering
Send the exact product name, the pack size and the quantity, and we will quote price, availability, batch shelf life and documentation. Where a product is not available in your market we will offer an equivalent that meets the same published specification and say clearly that it is an alternative.
